On the fateful morning of September 11, 2001, at 8:45 a.m. on a clear Tuesday morning, the world watched as multiple terrorist attacks were launched by crashing planes full of American citizens into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.

Terrorists on a fourth hijacked plane, intended for the U.S. Capitol Building, were overwhelmed by the heroic passengers and crew of United Airlines Flight 93. The plane was forced down into a quiet field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, tragically taking the lives of all 40 members on board. In sacrificing their own lives, they saved countless others.

The Remember Me Rose Garden, just a ¼ mile east from the entrance to the Flight 93 Memorial, stands as a living tribute to the memory of the 40 heroes of Flight 93. Donated by the heroes’ family members, the rose garden provides a tranquil setting where all those who need healing can find sanctuary.

It is with many thanks to the family members of the heroes as well as the outpouring of volunteer support that we have been able to build and maintain the garden into the beautiful space it is today.
